At The Rock Farm we believe in the importance of a small community. Typically 36 campers and 5 instructors work together in 12 bands for each two-week session.
We believe in time. You have time to jam, take a walk, talk with friends, practice, and try some or many of the activities offered every day on the campus. Yes, there is time to email home, read a book, and listen to music.
We believe in jumping right in. The day you arrive you are given an informal audition and are placed and rehearsing in your primary band the next morning.
We believe in musical freedom. In addition to your primary band, you are free to form one or several more.
We believe in having something in common. In addition to the songs your band is working on, each session everyone works on one song in common, so no matter who has free time to jam, you all know at least one song you can play together. And no matter how many campers gather, you can figure out ways for everyone to play on that one song! It gets loud.
We believe in consistency and commitment. Bands rehearse every day, and campers are rarely seen without their instruments. Camp is a culture of playing and practicing.
We believe in no competition. There are no divas, there are no superstars. The point is for everyone to have fun, learn, grow as a musician and as a person. The vibe is seriously chilled out, and we like it that way.
